Fennel seeds are the dried ‘fruit’ of the fennel plant. They have an aniseed or liquorice flavour but are slightly milder and somewhat sweeter. They have traditionally been used to settle the stomach and digestive system and freshen your breath!
Ideal Pairings/Uses: add to cucumber salads or salad dressings, mix with soft cheese and spread on bread, use in sausage mixtures, add to stews, curries or casseroles, add to poaching liquid for fish and shellfish, use in marinades for meat, fish or vegetables.
